LUPE FIASCO, KENNA, and SANTIGOLD WOULD CLIMB A MOUNTAIN FOR SAFE WATER! LITERALLY.

LUPE FIASCO, KENNA, and SANTIGOLD are three artists that are all on the same page when it comes to offering innovative, creative music and fresh ideas to the music industry. While they may be on the same level musically, now they are on the same level….of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!

These artists, including JESSICA BIEL, EMILE HIRSCH and others, climbed the 19,340 foot mountain in Tanzania on a trip that began Thursday, January 7, 2010, to raise awareness about unclean drinking water with Summit on the Summit. Unclean drinking water is an important issue, as it can cause cholera, typhoid fever and diarrhea. 4,000 children die a day from unclean drinking water. Women of the Masaai, for example,  have to walk four hours to get clean drinking water. 1 billion people do not have access to it at all! The cause had these stars training for months to get ready to climb in temperatures below zero and levels without much available oxygen.

See Santigold, Lupe, and Kenna talk about the water cause and a picture of the crew on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro when you jump in!

FINAL DRAFT GETS AN A+

Final d1

THERE’S A NEW BOY GROUP CALLED FINAL DRAFT, AND THEY GET AN A+.

But what is on this FINAL DRAFT that makes it amazing? Well for one, it looks good. It’s in a nice little folder, in accepted text and margins, and there’s something for everyone. Two, it sounds good. Read it out loud and the flow is impeccable. Three, it has personality. These five jump off of the page, screaming with character. And a bonus? They’re a piece of work, in a good way of course, whose masterpiece may be studied later on, and referenced; it darn well may just stand the test of time!

Like another boy band that comes to mind. Ahem– NEW EDITION! RALPH TRESVANT, original member of NEW EDITION, took it upon himself to be the groups mentor, and to push them on the forefront. He’s also still touring with New Edition and Heads of State (BOBBY BROWN and JOHNNY GILL). Nice. Now, the next generation, Final Draft’s members, CHOIR BOY (20), D-NYCE (22), FASHUN (21), LUCKY (18), and SINCERE (18), are about to embark on a whirlwind journey (that includes the overreaction of the female persuasion) that all begins with the dropping of their self-titled debut album on April 13.

Right On! sat down with Ralph and Final Draft to find out what “Uncle Ralph” has instilled in them, what we can expect from their debut album, and if they are single. Jump in and enjoy the water.

MONDAY MADNESS! DIGGY SIMMONS GETS A RECORD DEAL!

DIGGY SIMMONS, who just turned 15 (March 21st), has inked a record deal with Atlantic Records. This all comes only a week after dropping his stoopid “Made You Look Freestyle,” and four months after dropping his first mixtape.

Now that Diggy is in the public eye, he wants to have your ears ringing with the sound of his thought-provoking rhymes, yet he knows how to have fun, too. So he dropped another song this week that the rents who rocked to Run-DMC can’t complain about, and the youth will hip-shake to without guilt. The Generation Y drop is called “Come To Rock,” and you just have to listen to the flow which is oh so bad. But not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good!

Jump in and take part of the Dig movement.

RIGHTONMAG.COM EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: TRAVIS GREENE: A SHIP WITH A SAIL PART II

Travis Greene  Whoever took notice of TRAVIS GREENE’s first stamp on rightonmag.com notice that Travis is on his third of what’s probably nine lives! Yeah, he’s a cool cat who wants to make a new statement with his music, and his debut album, Stretching Out hits store shelves May 18.

In the first part of our two-part interview with Travis Greene, we discussed his being a Kappa Alpha Psi, his prodigy like status, and being coined Captain Save a Ho. Now we leave it to the God-fearing young buck to describe to us what it is he would like to be remembered for, what he’d say to people who think God isn’t relevant in today’s society, and to give us a small, restaurant friendly sample of his song “Still Here!”

You’ll find that and more after the jump.
